Dolphins Gather in Clearwater Beach

I was in Clearwater Beach today for lunch at the new Hooters, which is located at the round-about, above an equally new Ron Jon Surf Shop. After lunch, we took a walk across the street to check out the dolphin art. The dolphins line the perimeter of the park at Pier 60. Each one was created by a different artist and was sponsored by a local business or organization. They were all really cool. If you get a chance, head over there, but do it before September 4th. After that, they’re gone.

Wordless Wednesday, Ft. Desoto Beach

Hubby and I have been so busy. We’ve been exploring the Tampa Bay area like never before. We’ve got new restaurants and stores to share, events, and some great giveaways.

I’ve really been having a lot of fun in the Florida sun! I really just need to find some time to get caught up on everything. In the meantime, here’s a few pics from our latest trip to Ft. Desoto Beach, which is very quickly becoming one of our favorite places around Tampa Bay. Have a great day!

Gasparilla Krewes, Parade Past Tampa Crowds

I joined my fellow pirates and took to the streets of Tampa for a fun day at Gasparilla. This year was different for my Krewe because we were so close to the front of the parade (#9.) This meant a lot less time for pre-parade partying, but we still made the best of it.

The crowds were crazy, but everyone seemed to be having a good time. Except for the occasional bead thrown back at me, (by the way, so not cool, if you don’t like it, give it away don’t throw it back at the pirates…seriously, it hurts!) Continue reading

Tampa is Home to World’s Largest…

I’ve been to Channelside on multiple occasions; to watch a movie, have dinner, go bowling, stuff my face with chocolate, etc…

In all my visits there, I’ve never noticed that the bowling pin outside of Splitsville is actually an American original. That’s right, Tampa is home to the world’s largest bowling pin! The world’s largest bowling pin towers 30 feet above the Channelside Courtyard at the entrance to Splitsville.

I knew Tampa was home to the world’s longest sidewalk (Bayshore Blvd), but who knew we had this great piece of Americana right under our nose?! Ladies and Gentlemen, you can mark this one, off my bucket list!

Tampa Bay Times Forum, New Year, New Name

My New Years Eve was spent at the improved and newly named Tampa Bay Times Forum. It was a great night with friends watching Lightning Hockey. The forum has been remodeled, and what a great job they did! There are more open spaces to watch the game (or concert) while grabbing a bite to eat. The seats now have drink holders, and there is a real organ for that authentic hockey game feeling.

Florida State Fair Hiring

It’s almost time to start thinking about Crazy rides and what you want deep-fried. The Florida State Fair will be hitting Tampa from February 9 – 20, 2012. It will bring all the usual fun, rides, entertainment, and of course…food.

To make everything run smoothly, quality seasonal employees are needed for everything from ticket takers, to ushers, to trolley drivers. If you need a little extra cash, this may be the job for you. Just don’t spend it all on deep-fried Snickers, or, heck, go ahead, you earned it!  Continue reading
