Gasparilla Krewes, Parade Past Tampa Crowds

I joined my fellow pirates and took to the streets of Tampa for a fun day at Gasparilla. This year was different for my Krewe because we were so close to the front of the parade (#9.) This meant a lot less time for pre-parade partying, but we still made the best of it.

The crowds were crazy, but everyone seemed to be having a good time. Except for the occasional bead thrown back at me, (by the way, so not cool, if you don’t like it, give it away don’t throw it back at the pirates…seriously, it hurts!) Continue reading →

Tampa is Home to World’s Largest…

I’ve been to Channelside on multiple occasions; to watch a movie, have dinner, go bowling, stuff my face with chocolate, etc…

In all my visits there, I’ve never noticed that the bowling pin outside of Splitsville is actually an American original. That’s right, Tampa is home to the world’s largest bowling pin! The world’s largest bowling pin towers 30 feet above the Channelside Courtyard at the entrance to Splitsville.

I knew Tampa was home to the world’s longest sidewalk (Bayshore Blvd), but who knew we had this great piece of Americana right under our nose?! Ladies and Gentlemen, you can mark this one, off my bucket list!
