Celebrate Oktoberfest in Tampa
If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, head to Downtown Tampa for Oktoberfest. Oktoberfest starts today and runs through Sunday at Curtis Hixon Park. Admission is $10 for 1 day or $25 for the weekend.
You can enjoy some German food, music, and of course, beer, while watching or joining in on the games. This is a family and dog friendly event, and the weather looks like it’s going to be perfect.
And, if you’re active duty or retired military, you get in for free!
I’ll see you there!
Gasparilla Krewes, Parade Past Tampa Crowds
I joined my fellow pirates and took to the streets of Tampa for a fun day at Gasparilla. This year was different for my Krewe because we were so close to the front of the parade (#9.) This meant a lot less time for pre-parade partying, but we still made the best of it.
The crowds were crazy, but everyone seemed to be having a good time. Except for the occasional bead thrown back at me, (by the way, so not cool, if you don’t like it, give it away don’t throw it back at the pirates…seriously, it hurts!) Continue reading
Tampa is Home to World’s Largest…
I’ve been to Channelside on multiple occasions; to watch a movie, have dinner, go bowling, stuff my face with chocolate, etc…
In all my visits there, I’ve never noticed that the bowling pin outside of Splitsville is actually an American original. That’s right, Tampa is home to the world’s largest bowling pin! The world’s largest bowling pin towers 30 feet above the Channelside Courtyard at the entrance to Splitsville.
I knew Tampa was home to the world’s longest sidewalk (Bayshore Blvd), but who knew we had this great piece of Americana right under our nose?! Ladies and Gentlemen, you can mark this one, off my bucket list!

Tampa Bay Times Forum, New Year, New Name
My New Years Eve was spent at the improved and newly named Tampa Bay Times Forum. It was a great night with friends watching Lightning Hockey. The forum has been remodeled, and what a great job they did! There are more open spaces to watch the game (or concert) while grabbing a bite to eat. The seats now have drink holders, and there is a real organ for that authentic hockey game feeling.

A View of Tampa Bay from Above
I had the opportunity to do a paid focus group today in downtown Tampa. I can’t tell you what company it was, but I can tell you it was chocolate and it was yummy! Seriously, it was so good I didn’t need to be paid to eat it, but the money was nice! While on the 37th floor, I took the opportunity to snap this shot of Tampa Bay with my cell phone. It was such a peaceful view from up there. Good thing I don’t work there, or I’d never get any work done with that view.
