Get Geared up for Gasparilla, Argh you Ready?!

Gasparilla is here, and the pirates are ready to invade Tampa. Here’s a couple of cool things I found to help you get in the Gasparilla spirit.

Gasparilla T shirts

Target on Dale Mabry has a great selection of Gasparilla and pirate tees, including this one blinged out in pink.

I couldn’t resist the scent of these candles, hand poured right in Historic Ybor City by 7th Avenue Apothecary. This is their Gasparilla selection in Coconut Spiced Rum scent. It’s what a pirate should smell like. I took it home and burned it…OH EM GEE…it smells so good!!!

The Smell of Pirates

They say the candle will burn for 55 hours. I’ll follow up and let you know, but right now, I’m totally loving it!

Pole for a Purpose in Ybor, on Saturday

Pole dancing is not just for Strippers anymore. It’s become a great way to get fit with a body strengthening workout. And, if you’re ever hard up for money, it’s not a bad skill to have, you know, to leave your options open.

If you don’t see yourself getting on a pole anytime soon, but you want to  check out the art form. You can head to The Ritz, in Ybor, this Saturday, August 11th, to watch the experts, and benefit charity. Continue reading

Gasparilla Krewes, Parade Past Tampa Crowds

I joined my fellow pirates and took to the streets of Tampa for a fun day at Gasparilla. This year was different for my Krewe because we were so close to the front of the parade (#9.) This meant a lot less time for pre-parade partying, but we still made the best of it.

The crowds were crazy, but everyone seemed to be having a good time. Except for the occasional bead thrown back at me, (by the way, so not cool, if you don’t like it, give it away don’t throw it back at the pirates…seriously, it hurts!) Continue reading

Get a Booty Load of Beads at Gasparilla

The 2012 Gasparilla Children’s Parade was a lot of fun. It was perfect Florida weather for parading. There’s nothing like the look on a child’s face when they catch that special bead meant for them. Continue reading

Tampa is Home to World’s Largest…

I’ve been to Channelside on multiple occasions; to watch a movie, have dinner, go bowling, stuff my face with chocolate, etc…

In all my visits there, I’ve never noticed that the bowling pin outside of Splitsville is actually an American original. That’s right, Tampa is home to the world’s largest bowling pin! The world’s largest bowling pin towers 30 feet above the Channelside Courtyard at the entrance to Splitsville.

I knew Tampa was home to the world’s longest sidewalk (Bayshore Blvd), but who knew we had this great piece of Americana right under our nose?! Ladies and Gentlemen, you can mark this one, off my bucket list!
