So get out there and get some culture…It’s Free!
We recently discovered The Happy Baker at the Ybor Saturday Market, and Wow, was it amazing! The Happy Baker specializes in banana bread, but not just any banana bread. This is amazingly moist and oh. so. yummy!
Should have gotten a pic out of the package, but it was gone as soon as it was opened!
The bread comes in many flavors. My favorites are the Jumpin’ Jack and Chocolate Chuckle Chip. The Jumpin’ Jack is the classic banana bread with a Jack Daniels glaze, yum! The Chocolate Chuckle Chip is not only a chocolate chip banana bread, but it also has nice big chunks of coconut. It is sooooooo good!
The Happy Baker can be found at many of the local markets in the Tampa Bay area, and at their website HappyBakerNation.com
One of my favorite things about this company, (besides the awesome bread) is that it is a small business with the most fabulously nice people. I spent a while talking to the owner and she was a delight. She told me how she started this so she could continue to home school her children when the economy took a downturn. Just think, if the economy had kept being awesome, we may not have ever had this yummy bread. See, Tampa, everything happens for a reason!
So, if you’re at one of the local markets and you see The Happy Baker, make sure to stop and try a free sample. But, be careful…one taste and you’ll be hooked!

Friday is National Flip Flop Day and that means FREE smoothies at your local Tropical Smoothie Cafe!
I really think this is my favorite holiday of the year. I mean really, this is Florida, (you can get it in other states. too) so, Flip Flops are like the official state footwear (if it’s not, it should be), so getting a free smoothie just for wearing them…that’s AWESOME!
So, all you need to do is wear your flip-flops tomorrow. Go to your nearest Tropical Smoothie Cafe between 2pm and 7pm. Get a free Jetty Punch smoothie. And, HEY! while you’re there consider making a donation to Camp Sunshine because that’s what this is really about. Smoothies and flip-flops make us smile and Camp Sunshine makes families of children with life threatening illnesses smile. Smiles are what life is all about!
disclosure: I didn’t receive any kind of compensation for this post. I just really like flip-flops, smoothies, and smiles.
I know Spring Break isn’t even here yet, but, it’s not too early to think about what you’re going to be doing with your kids this Summer. Instead of the same old day care programs, why not send your kids on an adventure?!
Busch Gardens Tampa offers Adventure Day camps for K-12, with many different programs, as well as sleep over camps. And, you can claim it as dependent care on your taxes.
Check it out Busch Gardens Tampa is taking Summer enrollment online now. Sign up early and save! Busch Gardens Educational programs
Gasparilla is here, and the pirates are ready to invade Tampa. Here’s a couple of cool things I found to help you get in the Gasparilla spirit.
Gasparilla T shirts
Target on Dale Mabry has a great selection of Gasparilla and pirate tees, including this one blinged out in pink.
I couldn’t resist the scent of these candles, hand poured right in Historic Ybor City by 7th Avenue Apothecary. This is their Gasparilla selection in Coconut Spiced Rum scent. It’s what a pirate should smell like. I took it home and burned it…OH EM GEE…it smells so good!!!
The Smell of Pirates
They say the candle will burn for 55 hours. I’ll follow up and let you know, but right now, I’m totally loving it!
My friend, and very talented photographer, Nicole Abbett shot this beautiful time-lapse of downtown Tampa.

Pole dancing is not just for Strippers anymore. It’s become a great way to get fit with a body strengthening workout. And, if you’re ever hard up for money, it’s not a bad skill to have, you know, to leave your options open.
If you don’t see yourself getting on a pole anytime soon, but you want to check out the art form. You can head to The Ritz, in Ybor, this Saturday, August 11th, to watch the experts, and benefit charity. Continue reading
